School of Natural Living
Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. We offer a variety of 2-3 day workshops on a rotational basis in addition to special events. Details of each course are below:
101 Native Medicine Tour - Thursday thru Friday, 3-5pm.
Guided walks to identify and harvest traditional medicinal plants of Lake Atitlán. Drying, preserving and storage. Mayan sweat lodge ceremony.
Cost: 70 USD - includes room and board.
201 Mayan Cuisine - Monday thru Wednesday, 3-5pm.
Learn how to make tortillas, chuchitos, tamales, atoles and salsas.
Cost: 105 USD - includes class materials, room and board.
301 Permaculture Intensive - Monday thru Wednesday, 8am-noon.
Microclimates and plant orientation. Land use, efficiency and zoning systems. Biodiversity. Water harvest, storage and distribution. Grass farming. Integrated pest management. Biodynamic intensive. Tropical agriculture. Nursery propagation, grafting, cuttings, seed production and storage. Aquaculture.
Cost: 140 USD - includes room and board.
401 Soy Kitchen / Sprout Bakery - Thursday thru Friday, 8am-noon.
Learn how to make soy milk, yoghurt, tofu, tempeh, and miso. Sprouted grain breads and pasta, wheatgrass juice.
Cost: 70 USD - includes class materials, room and board.
501 Solar Energy - Thursday thru Friday, 1-3pm.
Industrial and domestic passive solar water heating systems. Theory, construction and use.
Cost: 70 USD - includes room and board.
